Western Melbourne Field Archers was formed through the amalgamation of two originating clubs in 1993 - changing to our current name in May 2015.
We moved to our current location in 1997. From this time to the present the club has continued as a field archery club, with a diverse range of interest and expertise in various aspects of archery.
Member's interests cover traditional archery (use of long bow, recurve and other traditional bow types), to the very modern compound bows available today. Members shoot all types of bows on a shoot day, and may well be shooting a traditional bow (or arrows) they have made themselves.
Our club Rules of Shoot are governed by the rules and constitution of the ABA - Australian Bowhunters Association www.bowhunters.org.au. All members of our club are required to have current membership of the ABA. The ABA is the recognised controlling body of Field Archery Australia (FAA). Membership of ABA allows for participation in all FAA events and also in all International Field Archery Association (IFAA) www.ifaa-archery.org activities.
Club focus is on field archery where targets are set out in a natural environment. Some members of the club are interested in hunting, and occasionally the club may offer an organised trip to interested members.
